Classifying Slope Unit by Combining Terrain Feature Lines Based on Digital Elevation Models

چکیده

In recent years, applications and analyses based on slope units have become increasingly widespread. Compared with grid units, can better represent terrain features boundaries allow a more complete view of the morphology Earth’s surface. Maps also offer significant improvements for disaster prediction analysis land resources. Therefore, we need reasonable method unit classification. Although some methods been proposed classification, they too focused morphological variations not fully considered importance geomorphology, geomorphological physical significance partitioning remain unclear. propose novel classification by combining feature lines (CTFL) derived from meaning geomorphology ontology that use several lines, such as geomorphic water division valley shoulder toe shady/sunny boundary to classify slopes. The Jiuyuangou Lushan study areas were selected test CTFL method. traditional hydrological method, effectively overcome topographic abruptness distortions, improve uniformity aspect within individual increase accuracy analyses. This work considers is conducive future studies division.

Automatic Extraction of Terrain Skeleton Lines from Digital Elevation Models

Terrain skeleton lines, among the most significant elements of topographical maps, are the valley lines that connect the deepest points of valleys, and the ridge lines that connect the highest points of ridges. In order to obtain correct and enough information about land forms from a topographical map, skeleton lines have to be considered and portrayed together with contours. Their extraction h...

Digital Elevation Models from Contour Lines

♦ Sampling density along the contours Interpolation of the irregular set of data points to a regular grid Valid theorems for sampling density have only recently been developed. Interpolation methods have to deal with the 'flat triangle' problem, as well as preservation of the accuracy of slope. Meaningful slopes are increasingly important in applications such as soil erosion and run-off modelli...

Terrain Analysis Using Digital Elevation Models in Hydrology

This paper describes methods that use digital elevation models (DEMs) in hydrology, implemented as an ArcGIS toolbar using Visual Basic and the ESRI object library. I describe generalized channel network delineation to objectively estimate drainage density and by using terrain curvature accommodate spatially variable drainage density. The multiple flow direction field determined from a DEM also...

Visual Terrain Traversability Estimation Using a Combined Slope/Elevation Model

A stereo vision based terrain traversability estimation method for offroad mobile robots is presented. The method models surrounding terrain using either sloped planes or a digital elevation model, based on the availability of suitable input data. This combination of two surface modeling techniques increases range and information content of the resulting terrain map.
